Now that we’ve discussed the problems in brief, let’s get into details!

Problem 1: Janome Memory Craft 8000 Stepping Motor Error

Your janome memory craft 8000 machine can sometimes come up with ‘stepping motor error’. Which means that whenever you turn the machine on it makes a terrible grinding noise. The noise comes out from the arm where the embroidery hoop is secured.

Reason:

It happens when the connector on the PCB is loose on the other end. This loosening PCB is due to the thread jam that might have occurred because of some dust or lint buildup.

Solution

Follow this step by step process to fix this issue.

  • First of all, remove the front panel with the PCB.
  • Now you need to trace the cable. For that, remove the base after undoing 4/5 large screws that secure the base. Then you should find 2 sensors. They should have wires that are joined and at the end of these you should locate a plug. The plug needs to be attached to the PCB. And you are good to go!

Problem 2: Janome Memory Craft 8000 Embroidery Key Not Working

When the needle won’t move while sewing most probably it is a problem with the embroidery key. Here is why and an easy fix for you.

Reason:

The embroidery key doesn’t work if the memory card has not been inserted properly. The memory card needs to align with the embroidery key for it to work properly. If not, it won’t function.

Solution

These steps are very easy to perform. Very similar to janome- hd 300.

  • First of all, start by turning the power switch off.
  • Now insert the card in the memory card slot. make sure that the arrow on the label is at the front.
  • Next push the card all the way in until you see a red mark appearing on the eject button. It should make a click sound. Once it makes the sound, it means it’s working properly.
  • Finally turn the power switch on and your machine is ready for sewing without causing further issues.

Problem 3: Needle Breaks

Needle Breaks

If you are working on an important project and the needle keeps snapping repeatedly, how frustrating would that be? Well, don’t worry! Here are the reasons for it and fixes as well.

Reason:

Not inserting the needle properly is one reason why the needle breaks. The needle will not be able to catch the thread properly. Nor will it be able to run if the insertion has been done incorrectly.

Also, the needle may be blunt or bent. Or simply too fine for the fabric that you are sewing.

The needle can also snap when the needle clamp tension is too tight.

Solutions:

Whether your issue is with a broken and bent needle or it’s the needle thread tension, here are the ways to fix this issue.

Solution 1: Changing/ Inserting the Needle Correctly

  • To change the needle, start by pressing the needle position button which will raise the needle. Then lower the presser foot.
  • Then turn the power switch off.
  • Next loosen the clamp screw and take out the needle from the clamp.
  • take your new needle and insert it into the clamp. Remember to keep the flat side away from you while doing it.
  • While inserting, push the needle as far as it goes. Then finally, tighten the clamp screw properly.

Loosen the Needle Thread Tension:

As sometimes the needle thread tension becomes too tight which leads the needle to snap.

Hence, to fix this, just move the dial settings to a lower number. It will loosen the tension of the needle thread.

And in case of a blunt or bent needle, consider changing your needle and buying a good quality one.

Problem 4: The Machine Doesn’t Work

Another common issue is when the Janome Memory Craft 8000 embroidery machine does not work. You may notice the machine struggling to sew and can’t move the cloth.

Reason:

The machine not being plugged-in properly is one reason for the machine not working.

Sometimes, a thread can also be caught in the hook race. It causes the machine not being able to move.

When the control circuit does not work correctly, the janome MC 8000 stops working as well.

Solution:

To fix this issue, there are several steps you can follow.

Solution 1: Plug in the Machine Properly

First of all, check if the machine has been plugged in. As it is the main power cord for your sewing machine, the operation will get interrupted without it being plugged in. So, if you notice it is not plugged in, plug it in properly.

Solution 2: Clean the Hook Race

  • To clean off the hook race, start off by unplugging the machine and removing the presser foot and needle.
  • Next, take out the set screw on the left side of the needle plate.
  • Now remove the bobbin and raise up the bobbin holder to remove it.
  • Now clean off the feed dogs and bobbin holder using a lint brush. And you are done.

For the control circuit to work properly, turn it off and then on again. Then set your desired pattern. And your machine should work properly.

Problem 5: The Bobbin Thread Breaks

Bobbin Thread Breaks

Bobbin thread repeatedly snapping or fraying from the needle is another janome memory craft 8000 issue you may have to deal with. Here is how.

Reason:

Whether you are using a janome 6600 or 8000, you often come to face this issue.

Here are some possible reasons for why it might happen.

  • The thread isn’t threaded correctly in the bobbin holder.
  • There has been lint build up in the bobbin holder
  • The bobbin is damaged and does not work properly.

Solution:

Here are some fixes for you.

Clean the Bobbin Holder:

  • To clean off the bobbin holder, start off by turning off the power button and unplugging the machine.
  • Next, remove the cover plate. Just slide the hook cover plate release button and it will come out.
  • Now remove the bobbin and clean off and lint or dust inside.
  • When you are done with the cleaning, complete the process by inserting the bobbin and attaching the hook cover plate.

Along with that make sure the bobbin is threaded properly. And in case of damaged bobbin I recommend you replace it.
