How to Wash Rayon Clothing?

Semi-synthetic fabric like rayon can be easily damaged when washing.

The color of rayon clothing items is not prone to shedding, the stains may appear on cellulose fiber due to direct exposure to sunlight.

That is why products from synthetic fiber should be dried in shaded places, but with good ventilation. If there are still some stains, they can be removed with the help of oxygen bleach containing sodium hypochlorite. You can replace bleach with ordinary hydrogen peroxide from a home medicine cabinet.

The rayon spandex blends clothing should be hung on the shoulders so that the water runs off immediately after washing. At the same time, the shoulders themselves can be wooden, plastic, or covered with fabric.

Baby Shampoo

Rayon blends are vulnerable to moisture and high temperatures. It means that you can put many synthetic fibers into warm water with the shampoo to stretch them. Follow the next steps to stretch rayon with shampoo:

Take the bowl with a few quarts of water, and place your new rayon clothing so that it is covered with water.

Then pour approximately one tablespoon of baby shampoo and swish the water until it foams.

Next, you need to mock the rayon garments in it and leave the fabric for five minutes.

Rinse the fabric under the stream of cool water for a few seconds. Roll the regular rayon you just rinsed up into the towel and wring it gently. This way the water will remove without damage to the rayon drapes.

Now it’s time to proceed just to the stretching. Spread the rayon shirt on a flat surface and pull the fabric on opposite sides. You should pull the shrunken rayon garment into different sides until you see the changes in size. It is better to continue until you feel dry rayon so that you make sure it will not shrink back.

Does Rayon Stretch with Hair Conditioner

Using the hair conditioner you should follow a similar principle as with the baby shampoo. The conditioner includes humectants and oils that can relax fibers, as well as baby shampoo. This way the fibers can return to their original shape.

Firstly, you need to read the care label and learn how to take care of the fabric and what things are prohibited. Many rayon fabrics may shrink if you practice machine washing instead of hand washing.

You should wash the airy drape fabric with your hands, and let them air dry. Don’t forget to save the clothes in the mesh laundry bag.

But if you have done everything properly and the fabric has shrunk anyways, you can use one of the ways to stretch it back.
